So many people that see the Toyota XSP badge on the X Series line up have never seen the package before, and usually say great things about the appearance of them! Usually people comments say something along the lines of: “is this a custom Toyota package”, “is this a TRD”, “I have never seen this on the website!”. So what is the Toyota X Series package? XSP is a appearance package available for select Toyota Models through Southeast Toyota dealerships. Being Toyota guys at heart, we fell in love with the pristine styling of the XSP, especially the custom XSP emblems.
Why are we mentioning all this? Because in early November, 2017 our team took a 2018 Tundra XSP for a drive! A drive that consisted of every level of off road and on road terrain you could imagine. Before we tell you about our adventure, here are some specs on the Tundra XSP.
- 20″ BEADLOCK STYLE WHEELS
- WITH BFG ALL-TERRAIN TIRES
- PREDATOR PRO RUNNING BOARDS
- COLOR-KEYED POCKET FENDER FLARES W/RIVETS
- XSP BADGING W/BEDSIDE GRAPHIC
- 4 RED BRAKE CALIPER COVERS
- SPRAY-IN BEDLINER
- CHROME EXHAUST TIP
Our team comes from a diverse up bringing in the off road world, we are used to driving 4Runner’s, Tacoma’s and FJ Cruiser’s through some of the toughest trails in the US while capturing every moment through photos and videos. That being said, driving a much larger truck was going to require some getting used to! Right off the bat the Tundra was no joke, and with the XSP styling it made it all the more photogenic. We picked up the Tundra XSP from World Toyota in Atlanta Georgia and made our way up to the Blue Ridge Mountains where we set up base for the weekend.
The next 3 days consisted of content shoots, off road trails, highways through the mountains and lots of creek crossings. The BFG Tires that come on the XSP kept us moving, and the 20” beadlock wheels allowed for some extra stability. Keep in mind the XSP package takes a stock Tundra SR5 and turns into a more capable, better looking Tundra. The Blue Ridge Mountains are gorgeous, that combined with the XSP look we could not help but stop and take photos pretty much everywhere we went. The Blue Ridge Mountains are full of trails and service roads perfect for a Tundra with spots built to truly test the 4-wheel drive system, such as 4lo.
The XSP package is the real deal, strait from the car lot you get a vehicle that is set up for the weekend warrior in us all! We can’t wait until the next opportunity to drive an X Series, and maybe the day will come where we actually get to buy one!
Thanks again, Toyota!
